As summer winds down, it’s time to gear up for a healthy back-to-school season. Set the stage for a smooth transition back to school. Here are some practical tips to get you started.
Prioritize sleep
Ensuring your child gets enough sleep is an important part of a healthy back-to-school routine. Quality sleep helps with concentration, mood and overall well-being. In the weeks leading up to the start of school, gradually adjust your child’s sleep schedule so they can adapt to the new routine. Aim for nine to 11 hours of quality sleep per night.

Abbotsford School District's Summer School Programs Inspire Students and Staff
This summer, the Abbotsford School District's Summer School Programs provided a dynamic and enriching experience for students, staff, and families alike. From July 2nd to July 26th, our secondary and elementary programs were alive with the energy of hands-on learning, creativity, and community building.
The Abbotsford School District is pleased to announce Kristi Ferguson's appointment as the new Senior Manager of Communications and Community Relations, effective July 8, 2024. Kristi brings an extensive background in fundraising communications, particularly within the healthcare and community non-profit sectors, making her a valuable addition to our team.
In a continued commitment to supporting the educational success and cultural identity of Indigenous students, the Abbotsford School District has signed the 2025-2030 Enhancement Agreement for Indigenous Students. The signing took place during a luncheon event on June 17, 2024, attended by representatives from the Semáth First Nation, Mathxwí First Nation, Fraser Valley Métis Association, the Abbotsford Board of Education, and district leaders, staff, and students.
As summer break approaches, Minister Rachna Singh, Ministry of Education and Child Care, expresses her gratitude to everyone in the education system for their hard work and the milestones they have reached during the 2023-2024 school year.
William A. Fraser Middle School is proud to announce the release of the “Connections Matter” Community Video Project. The project was led by Mr. Leeman’s Grade 8 class and supported by the Falcon Equity League, which includes Grade 6, 7, and 8 students. The project reveal saw an impressive turnout, with many guests attending the school's reveal event on June 12, 2024.
An expansion to Abbotsford Middle school will bring 200 more student spaces to the growing district as part of the governments plan to expand schools quicker.
"Our government is working to meet the needs of growing communities by investing in schools and taking action to bring innovative solutions to build and open more classrooms faster," said Rachna Singh, Minister of Education and Child Care. We're bringing the services people need, like schools, to B.C.s growing communities in half the time."
At Chief Dan George Middle School, a unique group of students is making waves with their dedication to cultural celebration and humanitarian efforts. The SWANA Club, composed of students from the SWANA region - South-West Asia and North Africa, has inspired community spirit and cultural pride.
