Finalists for the 2022 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education

Three Abbotsford educators have been named as finalists for the 2022 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education:

  • Joe Frew, a vice-principal at Godson Elementary, is a finalist in the category of extracurricular leadership
  • Ian Levings, the principal of Eugene Reimer Middle, is a finalist in the school leadership category
  • Nerlap Sidhu, a vice-principal at Blue Jay Elementary, is a finalist for social equity and diversity

2022-23 School Start-Up Report

Superintendent Godden provides a report that summarizes the efforts of staff to prepare classrooms for student attendance for September 2022.

Overview of the Board's Strategic Plan Cycle

Superintendent Godden provided the Board with an update regarding the Strategic Plan and the progress toward these goals and how these requirements will be met for the 2022-23 school year.

Finance Department Strategic Plan Report for 2021-22

Linda Peters, Director of Finance provided a progress report to the Board highlighting achievements related to how the Finance Department worked to optimize resources across the district.

Dale Churchill, Director of Facilities, provided a progress report to the Board highlighting achievements related to how the Facilities Department worked to improve the condition and performance of district facilities.

Ministry of Education and Child Care - Student and Family Affordability Fund

Secretary-Treasurer Velestuk provided the Board of Education with an update regarding the consultation processes and what the top priorities that have been identified.

2021-2022 Audited Consolidated Financial Statements

A recommendation was put forward THAT the Board of Education approve the Audited Consolidated Financial Statements for the fiscal year July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, and approve any inter-fund transfers.

Major Capital Additions

A recommendation was put forward THAT the Board of Education approve the Capital Project Funding Agreement for Auguston Traditional Elementary as executed by the Board Chair and Secretary-Treasurer, dated for reference purposes as July 14, 2022; and THAT the Board of Education approve the Capital Project Funding Agreement for Margaret Stenersen Elementary as executed by the Board Chair and Secretary-Treasurer, dated for reference purposes as July 21, 2022.
