Abbotsford Senior Secondary Celebrates 70 Years

September 17, 2026

Abby Senior is celebrating 70 years of history, memories and Panther pride with a special community open house on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Former and current students, staff, families and community members are invited to return to the school and take a walk down memory lane. Visitors will be able to explore classrooms, browse archived yearbooks and see displays featuring past school uniforms and other pieces of Abby Senior history.

That history includes plenty of stories. Photos from 1957 show students taking courses such as Commerce and German, along with a Dance Orchestra that played at school dances, a Students’ Council, teacher’s choir and radio club.

By 1990 and 1991, school life included cheerleaders, Snowball Pageant participants, Abby Winter Olympics activities, typing classes and students raising funds during an Abby Senior versus MEI basketball game.

And, of course, there was even an appearance from Stinky the Skunk.

The open house will offer more opportunities to celebrate Panther history. Guests can enjoy free coffee and baked goods and receive a commemorative 70th anniversary pin while supplies last. The Abby Senior Panthers Drumline will also perform during the afternoon.

Limited-edition 70th anniversary T-shirts and archived yearbooks will be available for purchase, along with a blowout sale of school swag from past years.

Whether you attended Abby Senior decades ago or are part of the school community today, the September 26, 2026 open house is a chance to reconnect, revisit familiar memories and celebrate 70 years of Panther history together.
