Observed on the third Monday of January each year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemorates the life experiences and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a prominent civil rights leader. It brings further awareness to the ongoing racial inequities experienced globally by Black-identifying communities, and the legacy of anti-Black racism in society. People are encouraged to use the day to reflect on the principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change espoused by Dr. King.
