A Message from Superintendent Godden

Dear Abbotsford School District Students, Staff and Families,

As you may have seen in the media, there are growing tensions and anti-racism protests all over the world and in this community sparked by events in the United States. In this current climate, I want to acknowledge how difficult these circumstances may be for some of our students, staff, and families.

Our District’s vision of a world-class, innovative and individualized educational experience continues to stand as our commitment to fostering welcoming environments for each child in our care. As a District, we have no tolerance for hate of any kind. We continue to do our best to create a safe and nurturing environment for all members of our school community. This is particularly true during the pandemic, when we are committed to taking care of each other. As citizens of this great country, we have an obligation to speak out against hate and to work together to create a community that respects and celebrates diversity. Our children should expect no less.

During times like this, children will need the support of caring adults to help them process the events going on around the world and in this community. As always, counselling and support services are available through the District to further support your child’s emotional needs.

If you or your child requires ongoing support outside of school, the following agencies are recommended resources:

  • START – In an immediate mental health crisis, START is available to consult with caregivers over the phone at 1-844-782-7811.
  • Abbotsford Child & Youth Mental HealthVisit their website or call 604-870-5880.
  • Abbotsford Hospice Society – Visit their website or call 604-852-2456.
  • Foundry – Visit their website or call 604-746-3392. Foundry is now offering virtual drop in counselling sessions.
  • Additional resources collected by our district may be found on our District’s Learning Support Services website:

If you are a staff member who requires additional support, connect with our Human Resources department.

Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
